CVSA Sets Date & Focus for RoadCheck Inspection Blitz

T680 Truck Inspection

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) scheduled its annual three-day inspection spree for June 5-7, 2018.

During RoadCheck, CVSA-certified inspectors conduct compliance, enforcement and educational initiatives targeted at various elements of motor carrier, vehicle and driver safety. It is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial motor vehicles in the world, with an average of approx. 15 trucks or buses inspected across North America per minute.

At this year’s event, inspections will focus on hours of service compliance, which includes:

  • Providing operating credentials and hours-of-service documentation
  • Checking for seat belt usage
  • Screening for alcohol/drug impairment

If no critical inspection violations are found, drivers will receive an official CVSA decal for their trucks. If an inspector does identify critical violations, the driver may be put out of service, meaning he or she cannot operate the vehicle until the violations are corrected.
