Brake Safety Week Dates Set

Semi Truck and Trailer on Highway

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has scheduled its annual Brake Safety Week for Sept. 15-22.

The goal of Brake Safety Week is to reduce the number of crashes caused or made more severe by faulty brake systems on commercial motor vehicles. During this designated week, inspectors will conduct roadside inspections across the country.

The inspection focus this year will be on brake hoses and tubing. CVSA says hoses and tubing are essential for proper operation of truck braking systems. Inspectors will make sure the hoses and tubing are properly attached, undamaged, without leaks and appropriately flexible.

Last year, law enforcement conducted more than 35,000 inspections during Brake Safety Week. Nearly 5,000 vehicles were put out of service.
