Alternative Fuel Systems

When considering whether or not alternative fuels fit your business model, it's important to look at differentials before making a decision. Natural gas powers more than 250,000 vehicles on the road today, with a growth rate of 3.7 percent per year since 2000. There are multiple benefits to running natural gas. It's lower price per gallon and produced in the United States. Natural gas is also lighter than air, non-toxic and dissipates quickly. As the debate continues, MHC Truck Leasing is prepared to help answer questions related to running natural gas versus diesel.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

CNG is a readily available alternative to gasoline that is created by compressing natural gas to less than 1 percent of its volume at standard atmospheric pressure. It consists mostly of methane and is odorless, colorless and tasteless.

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

LNG consists predominantly of methane and has been converted to liquid form for ease of storage or transport. It takes up about 1/600th the volume of natural gas in the gaseous state. It is also odorless, colorless, non-toxic and non-corrosive.
