SABETHA, Kan., August 25, 2015 – Keim TS purchased two Kenworth ICON 900 trucks from Murphy-Hoffman Company (MHC) to commemorate 60 years of business. The first ICON 900 contains serial badge No. 1, and will be displayed in CEO Stan Keim’s collection of refurbished trucks. The second was awarded to the company’s top driver for his dedication and outstanding driving record.
Keim TS is a family-owned company, which hauls more than 50,000 flatbed and dry van cargo loads per year throughout the lower 48 states. Its fleet of more than 200 Kenworth T800s and T660s hauls for industries such as gypsum, wire, steel, lumber, building products and agricultural manufacturers. When the ICONs were first announced at the Mid-America Trucking Show, MHC Executive Vice President Ken Hoffman saw an opportunity for Keim.
“Keim attracts and maintains satisfied drivers with the Kenworth products they purchase from MHC, and the ICON 900 will be no exception,” Ken said. “Much of the success of our long-term partnership is due to the alignment of values we have at MHC and Keim. We help optimize their business by offering extended hours and parts inventory, in addition to an expansive network that meets Keim at all five of their major locations.”
A True Collector’s Item
The ICON 900 added to Stan’s collection features a Cummins ISX engine, 13-speed transmission, leather interior and signature chrome badging. It is one of six trucks Stan has on display, showcasing the evolution of some of the most beloved trucks in the industry’s history. The ICON 900 truck will also be taken to truck shows so that prospective drivers can explore the ins and outs of the classic, limited edition vehicle.
“We’ve primarily run Kenworth trucks since Keim was founded in 1955,” Stan said. “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate 60 years of business than by refurbishing older trucks that showcase the history of the trucking industry. The classic ICON 900 is a perfect addition to our collection. We are thrilled to receive the No. 1 truck from MHC.”
Stan presented longtime Keim driver Myron Wiebe with his very own gunmetal gray, custom decaled ICON 900 to reward him for his impressive driving record. Myron has demonstrated safe, reliable and fuel efficient driving behaviors over the years, exemplifying the company’s mission to put the best and safest product on the road while focusing on safety and training.
“The ICON 900 is Myron’s reward for being an incredible asset to our company,” Stan said. “If a company wanted to duplicate a driver, Myron is the one. He doesn’t get into accidents, and you’re never going to be surprised by his driving behavior. He’s a great representative for Keim. His truck is already generating buzz among our other drivers.”
Myron has driven several trucks since he became a driver in 1992. His first truck he drove when starting at Keim TS was a Kenworth W900, making his new ICON 900 the perfect throwback to his early days driving for the company.
“I’m honored to receive this truck,” Myron said. “The ICON 900 is a great-looking vehicle, with the classic, longer hood and nice leather interior. It’s great to work for an owner who really cares about the comfort and satisfaction of his drivers. Not just with the ICON 900, but with every truck Stan selects to include in his fleet.”
